To reach the 2050 decarbonisation targets, most European buildings require renovation. Yet, there are many supply and demand side barriers preventing building renovation from reaching the necessary scale, especially in the residential sector. Sav€ the Homes will overcome these barriers by using the “Citizen-Hub”, a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) inspired concept, making home renovation processes easier, faster, and more affordable for the homeowners.
Thus, the project has the following objectives:
- To make home renovation easier, faster and more affordable for homeowners by designing an economically sustainable citizen-oriented OSS model, “Citizen-Hub”, to be deployed by municipalities.
- To facilitate deep home renovation by introducing an attractive and transparent customer journey.
- To offer easy access to affordable financing for deep renovation.
- To deliver reliable and relatable benefits to citizens and other stakeholders in two cities as a result of the Citizen-Hubs operating locally.
Therefore, Save the Homes will create innovative “integrated home renovation services” within already established frameworks for OSS networks in Valencia (ES) and Rotterdam (NL). The aim is to solve a number of the detected barriers and to substantially contribute to an increase of an annual renovation rate of >3% in the residential sector.
