Summary – Resumen
re-MODULEES aims at generating standard modules for the energy retrofitting of residential buildings, defined within a general EU-wide framework to activate this market sector.
A wealth of retrofitting solutions have been developed in the framework of other European projects, including technical solutions, innovative business models and financing schemes, generally supporting a holistic user-centred approach and involving the whole value chain. The mechanism chosen in the project is the study and capitalisation of the comprehensive retrofitting solutions developed in these previous projects, including them in the re-MODULEES Retrofitting Market Activation Platform, which will advise citizens in the whole process of energy retrofitting their homes. The information and communication technology (ICT) platform, based on the capabilities of geographic information analysis (GIS), becomes a single-entry point to the different functional modules according to the location and profile of the user, and in a transparent and reliable way, facilitates the initial advice, the search for technical solutions and professional services, or even possible financing. Similarly, the platform enables services for the construction and commissioning phase of the refurbished buildings, through quality procedures and monitoring of the benefits of the retrofitting, so that the visualisation of these good practices can serve as a lever for other neighbourhood communities.
In this sense, re-MODULEES has the following measurable objectives:
- To make deep renovations easier, faster, and more attractive for stakeholders by fostering market uptake and giving access to key results of relevant European projects.
- To nudge relevant stakeholders to renovation by fostering holistic consumer-centred business models and decision tools, supported by evidence-based performances.
- To facilitate decision making on deep renovation by tackling demand and supply sided social, financial, and legal barriers.
- To foster the implementation of the re-MODULEES actions in seven demonstration pilot markets.
- To roll out the re-MODULEES concept at a European level, supported by a go-to-market exploitation at member state level.
All in all, re-MODULEES aims to be a strategic capitalization project which, by leveraging on the wide background of several H2020 projects (as well as from other EU programs), will join and combine knowledge, approaches and tools already available within its clear modular framework, so to optimize their uptake on local markets.
